Molecular Diagnosis of TB-Its Constraints in Resource limited settings

The idea of bringing out of this book started from a small publication on mitigating the amplicon contamination of a molecular biology laboratory in the resource limited settings. The work was published in the international Journal of Mycobacteriology. An initiative in eliciting the roll and importance of Molecular biology TB labs in the resource limited settings was strongly felt. While establishing the Molecular Biology laboratory at IRL Kolkata the constraints in overcoming the amplicon contamination during the proficiency testing of the samples was documented through rigorous onsite evaluation , monitoring and hand holding. The observations were meticulously analyzed and statistically evaluated for upliftment of the laboratory procedures . Adherence of Good Lab practice was ensured and repeated sentinel testing was done till the contamination overcome. The practice prompted us to publish our systematic observations in an international journal probing into most effective intervention for combating Amplicon Contamination. The Published work was reviewed and peer reviewed so many times to bring out the pit falls in establishing a Molecular biology Laboratory.
