Minimizing Transmission losses on Weak Transmission line using GA

Due to the insufficient generation, inadequate transmission lines, and the slow response of the conventional means of control through the use of reactors, capacitor banks and tap changing transformers (phase shifters) to regulate power flows, there has been overloading and stressing of the operational network of Nigeria's power system beyond their thermal limit in an attempt to meet the increasing load demand. Hence, there is a need to improve the voltage capacity to be handled on the weak transmission lines so as to avoid stress and overloading of the operational network. this research work contains reviewed various literature and results on the effect of using FACTS devices on transmission lines
