Micro Finance and Women Empowerment

This book focuses on the role of micro finance in empowering poor women through Self Help Groups (SHGs) in alleviating poverty in a tribal dominated poor state Odisha; located in Eastern India. The research studies were conducted in the most backward KBK districts of Odisha with the help of field study based primary data, focus group discussions and observations, supplemented by secondary sources of data. The study confirms the positive role of micro finance in economic development through women empowerment. The book embraces range of disciplines and hence, will be of immense interest to scholars across the fields of financial economics, gender studies, sociology and rural development.
