¿¿¿¿This book presents an overview of methods used to counter Calcium deficiency on chervil, parsley and lettuce. Calcium deficiency is usually related to the inability of the plant to translocate adequate calcium to the affected plant part rather than to insufficient soil calcium levels. Physiological calcium deficiency in chervil (Anthriscus cerefolium (L.) Hoffm.) and leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is called tipburn, while that in curled parsley (Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) Nym. convar. crispum) is called calcium deficiency. A full description of tipburn of chervil and calcium deficiency of parsley is given. The best methods for preventing calcium deficiency in chervil and lettuce involve spraying leaves with calcium containing solutions, growing plants in negative DIF conditions and growing plants under a far-red filter.
