Methodology of Development of Information System in Animal Husbandry

Knowledge and Information are essential for people to successfully respond to the opportunities and challenges of social, economic and technological changes. But to be useful, knowledge and information must be effectively communicated to people. The most important factor necessary for the development of the individual, society and the nation, it is the information. The extension personnel have been disseminating the technological messages to the farmers manually and through conventional media. There are many possibilities for the potential applications of Information and Communication Technology in agriculture and allied sector particularly for information dissemination. The top down approach of dissemination the technological information to the farmers based on perception of extension personnel may not cater the specific need of all of categories of farmers. Therefore, a participatory approach should be followed for assessment of information need is important and preliminary step in development of information system. In the present book the author has discussed the detail methodology for development of advisory system particularly the Information System for livestock owners.
