Metacognition in university education

When we talk about university higher education, it is composed of different elements that influence the cognitive development of a student and the contents that are expected to be applied in their professional life, in this teaching-learning process, there are also elements that prevent the effective learning or uptake of content, One of them is the application of metacognition, which is a method based on self-reflective learning, which seeks to correct the shortcomings presented in the teaching-learning process that affect the student and that the student carries out this process by means of his own means, abilities and skills, adapting to different means of study and learning according to his context.
