Mesalamine and antioxidant therapy for treatment of IBD

To evaluate effect of Combination of Mesalazine and Ellagic Acid on experimentally induced inflammatory bowel disease in Mice and evaluate biological parameters like demographic parameters, Bio Markers, Serologic marker, inflammatory markers Prepare an optimized concentration of DSS in sterile water by weighing DSS powder and mixing until a clear solution is achieved. Administered the 2-3% of DSS orally for 7 days. Measure body weight daily and Collect faeces by placing single mice in an empty cage without bedding material for 15 to 30 min. With sterile forceps, collect faeces and observe. The result shows that treatment with Ellagic Acid and Mesalazine individually is able to improve the inflammatory conditions by suppressing the various inflammatory mediators. But the combination of this Ellagic Acid and Mesalazine produce more significant effect than the individual one. There combination shows more positive effect on histopathology and biochemical estimations than the individual drug effect. So the combined drug treatment of IBD might stand as positive future treatment aspect for the inflammatory conditions of Bowel Disease.
