Mechanics of Soil Testing and Results Reporting

This manual book meant for soil tests, has been prepared for laboratory practices that are related to Civil Engineering projects. It has been compiled to fulfill requirements for the course units in Soil Mechanics of the curriculum for Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. The manual brings on board the vital procedures for testing and reporting the test results. Inclusion of test results in the manual is a unique effort that lacks in the BS 1377 Manuals. Index properties for both fine and coarse grained soils that are considered in classifying the soils have been covered in this laboratory manual. Laboratory soil tests for determination of coefficient of permeability for fine and coarse soils have also been captured herein. An effort has been made to provide typical test results that should be anticipated by learners in their endeavor to perform the tests. The typical test results provided will motivate the learners and inculcate a positive attitude for expectation of meaningful results at the end of each test. Hence, forms for reporting the test results are duly filled and subsequently appended for records¿ keeping.
