Mathematics in Public Primary Schools in Kakamega County, Kenya

This book highlights Mathematics as an important subject in development of Nations, evaluates the school-based variables contributing to the effective implementation of the subject and makes recommendations to the stakeholders. The book is therefore aimed at assisting the policy makers understand these challenges and possible ways of addressing them. The implementers of the education policies will also find the book handy as it unveils some of the school-based variables which they will come across in their day -to-day performance of duty. The impetus to carry out the research and publish this book was therefore inspired by the realization that students continuously perform poorly in the subject. The book highlights learner-based variables, Teacher-based variables and the general learning environment. To fill the gap, the book goes further to make recommendations to the Policy makers so as to address these challenges. The book is therefore an indispensable reference material for scholars at both levels of policy formulation and implementation.
