Management Practices and its Effect on Honeybee Colony Absconding

Even though western parts of Ethiopia has high potential for improved beekeeping development, however, frequent occurrence of honeybee colony absconding is one of the hindrance factors for its development. So far, detail study has not been conducted on management practices and its effect on honeybee colony absconding within improved beekeeping system. Thus, to identify factors contributing to honeybee colony absconding and seasonal honeybee management practices, study was conducted on household beekeepers in Kaffa and Sheka Zones, Southwest Ethiopia. This book, therefore, provides the seasonal management practices within improved beekeeping system, factors causing honeybee colony absconding and possibilities to minimize honeybee colonies absconding from improved beehives during dearth season. Therefore, the research result written in this book will help the community to improve and utilize the beekeeping systems or any others who have interest in the field and it is also very useful to professionals participating in improving the sector.
