MANAGEMENT OF EARTHWORKS FOR ROADS NEW HORIZONS

Compared to other materials which have predictable properties, due to their geological formation, soils are complex and variable materials. Therefore, appropriate methods of laboratory analysis, field testing and construction technologies have been recently implemented. Part One of this book includes a Practical Guide for Soil Compaction, in various geo-climatic areas of Earth, including the "dry compaction¿ technology, recommended also for the compaction of Lunar regolith for the future NASA envisaged communication ways. Part Two of the book offers a useful software : Uniteras.py, for the identification of the specific soil class, according AASHTO, Casagrande USCS, French RTR/GTR and the standard Romanian one. Part Three of the book presents in detail, The Practical Guide, for Earthworks Construction of Trans-European North¿South Motorway Project -TEM, based on the French specification, including 50 "construction cases" for current embankment layers and other 41 for subgrades, supported by the Construction Case.py software, designed for the identification of any specific "construction case"possible to be encountered in the earthworks site.
