LOW POWER VLSI DESIGN

In modern world, high performance embedded applications in the multimedia, networking and imaging have increased the high-end consumer products in the market. These applications demand high performance and more complex Out of Order superscalar processor. Improvements made in performance increases hardware complexity, the IC power and energy dissipation. Power dissipation is an important factor in high performance processor design using deep sub-micrometer technology (65 nm and below). Low power VLSI design has become a critical design consideration in high end systems due to its expensive cooling, packagingcosts and lower reliability. Higher levels of on-chip designs are often associated with power dissipation.
