In recent decades, many voices have been raised in defence of the environment, a concern focused not only on environmental problems, but also on their causes and origins. For this reason, the present research project, 'Limitations of environmental management in hotel establishments in the district of Cajamarca and a methodological proposal to improve their eco-efficiency', is based on and motivated by the importance that the development of tourism has taken on in recent years at a global, national, regional and local level, as well as by the need to contribute to the care and conservation of the environment through environmental management systems and programmes.
