The principal goal of periodontal therapy is elimination of the etiological agent namely bacterial plaque and also prevention of its accumulation.Laser assisted procedures have claimed to have advantages such as, hemostasis, instant pocket sterlization, little wound contraction, reduced edema, less operative and post-operative pain, faster healing, increased patient acceptance. The aim of our study was to evaluate the efficacy of DiodeLaser as an adjunct to conventional surgery in open flap debridement procedures in patients with periodontitis. It was found that both procedures were equally effective in improving clinical parameters of periodontal disease with laser showing better healing.
