Kisan Credit Card : A Qualitative Assessment of Moradabad District

Agriculture contributes about 33% to the total income of the U.P. Majority of the population in the State relies mainly on agriculture for its livelihood. Most of the farmers are heavily dependent on agricultural loan to support their agricultural activities. KCC scheme was started by NABARD to provide agriculture finance to farmers. No study was found which has reviewed and assessed the KCC scheme in Moradabad District. The present study was done to review and examine the progress of Kisan Credit Card holders in Moradabad District. The present study is based on field survey wherein the KCC holders in the select villages have been interviewed on the various aspects of KCC scheme. The study makes an effort to explore and examine the various problems faced by the beneficiaries in availing and using the scheme. It analyses the various procedural, behavioral and operational problems faced by the farmers availing KCC scheme. Based on the findings of survey it suggests remedial measures to make the scheme more beneficial for the farmers and overall more effective. It is hoped that the present book would be useful for the researchers and policy makers working in the area of KCC scheme.
