Killing Privilege

The culmination of decades of teaching and writing world history, this book is a scathing indictment of human privilege. It is a short history of humanity from the outside looking in, an attempt to transcend the anthropocentrism that dominates scholarship and culture generally, in order to explain how and why humanity has reached the perilous state we now find ourselves in. It argues that human arrogance and exceptionalism developed over time into a hierarchy of being that not only threatens to tear humanity apart but also imperils all life, ultimately suggesting that these trends can be reversed only to the extent we humans can re-insinuate ourselves within the Web of Life, with equal consideration for the natural world and all living beings.
