Judgment scams in land disputes in the D.R. Congo

It is estimated in the Democratic Republic of Congo that about 80% of the conflicts submitted to the courts and tribunals are directly or indirectly related to land and real estate, a sign that the land sector is the object of concerns and problems. Most of the cases are constituted by the illegal expropriation of citizens' goods and properties by certain political-administrative and military authorities as well as by certain businessmen and wealthy people to the detriment of their owners.The Congolese justice system has long been accused of corruption, both by citizens and by national and international NGOs. This partly justifies the reluctance of some people to go to court for fear of incurring exorbitant costs in order not to obtain justice.
