IT Acceptance Attitude among Information Professionals of Universities

Information Technology has brought prominent changes in all fields of life. It has changed and will continue to change the way we live, do business, interact and communicate. Information has become the life-blood for organizations. Libraries can¿t prosper without an effective utilization of Information Technology. It is considered as the currency of the 21st century. In the present age of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), no progressive country is poor in information and all information rich countries are also prosperous. Information professionals should possess a positive attitude towards IT so that libraries may prosper like other departments. Library professionals should be computer literate as it is the most needed competency of the present age. IT infrastructure should be available in the libraries. Library practitioners should have proper training to make a fruitful usage of information technologies. Sufficient budget should be allocated to avail technology in libraries. A competent team should be appointed in libraries for accomplishing IT-based projects without any delay. The government should give priority to the libraries by providing sufficient budget.
