This book comprises eleven essays on secular concept of education in India and its propagator Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya, Nissim Ezekiel-the father of ¿New¿ poetry in Indian English and various fiction writers in Indian subcontinent from ¿triumvirates¿ to modernists/contemporaries viz. Mulk Raj Anand, Raja Rao, R.K. Narayan, Kamla Markandeya, Shashi Deshpande, Siddharth Gigoo and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. These authors represent various significant aspects of post-Independence India and aftermath cultural sensibility and their relevance is both intrinsic and historical. Though never planned as parts or chapters of a book, these essays are marked by a uniformity of theme and objective in that they deal with the issues of cultural encounters what has now been universally acknowledged as trends and traditions of subcontinent of India.
