Isolation of Soil Organic Matter for Adsorption of Chlorinated Phenols

The book explains how various fractions of soil organic matter are isolated and subsequently used for the sorption of four main chlorinated phenol. The fractions of soil organic matter were characterized and using some of the key isotherm models, the contribution of the natural organic matter to the overall sorptive capacity of the soils was determined. The behaviour of the chlorinated compounds was also explained based on their physico-chemical properties and there varying degree of binding strength and capacity to the surface of the fractions of organic matter was also adequately scientifically justified.
