Abd All¿h b. Alaw¿ al-A¿¿¿s (1844-1929) was one of the wealthiest traders in Batavia, name of Jakarta before independence, in his time. He was one of important supporters of Islamic reformism in the Netherlands East Indies (Indonesia). He used his wealth to support modern Islamic organizations such as Jam'iyyat Khayr and al-Irsh¿d. His role to improve and to move forward his community was noteworthy and some of his reformist thought could be seen in his collection of poems.
