Rice is a staple food for more than three billion people in the world a grown widely in tropical and subtropical regions. It is also an important energy source of more than half of the world and 65% of the Indian population. Gujarat occupies about 7 to 8% of the gross cropped area and accounts for around 14% of the total food grain production in India. Iron is an essential trace element for all organisms. Iron nutrient is critical for chlorophyll formation, photosynthesis, plant enzyme activation and oxygen carrier in nitrogen fixation. Iron deficiency is a common nutritional disorder in many crop plants, causing chlorosis, poor yield and reduced nutritional quality. Micronutrients malnutrition is a global health problem affecting more than 3 billion people worldwide. Iron deficiency is particularly prevalent in women of child-bearing age because of the regular loss of menstrual blood. The immediate outcome of Fe deficiency is anemia (IDA), which is thought to affect at least two billion people worldwide.
