Investigations on Ternary Metal Complexes

In the present work, thiophene functionalized thiosemicarbazones were synthesized and characterized. New ternary transition metal complexes complexes with dinitrogen bases and new thiosemicarbazones were prepared and characterized. Structures of the complexes are proposed based on spectral data. DNA binding properties of all 24(twenty four) complexes were explored and binding constants were calculated. All the complexes were screened for their activity against pathogenic strains. Thus the objectives of the present work are fairly achieved. Thiosemicarbazones having an azomethine (>C=N-NH-) aggregate established an imperative class of ligands for new advancements in medication. In this way, it is of interest to prepare new thiosemicarbazones and their metal complexes and to evaluate their biological activities. Survey of literature (Chapter 2) revealed that (i) thiophene functionalized thiosemicarbazones are not much investigated (ii) heterocyclic di-nitrogen bases, are promising DNA binding agents and (iii) ternary transition metal complexes with Bpy/Phen and thiophene thiosemicarbazones are not investigated so far.
