Introduction to Liberia Criminal Justice System

Since the introduction of Criminal Justice (CJ) as an academic discipline in Liberia Universities, both students and lecturers continued to rely on Western textbooks. Of course, this has never been a bad or wrong approach and idea. From a Comparative Criminal Justice perspective, it is good to learn about other societies Criminal Justice Systems (CJS). However, they do not directly offer contextual Knowledge specific to Liberia CJS. Arguably, it makes it difficult for students who lack the contextual skills to translate or apply Western text to Liberia context. For this reason, this concise edition introduces students to the nature and scope of Liberia CJS. Particularly, it focuses on the three components (Liberia National Police, Circuit Courts/Criminal Courts, and the Bureau of Correction and Rehabilitation) of Liberia CJS. It also provides a comprehensive overview of Law Enforcement in Liberia. Though students in Liberia are the prime target for this book. However, it is also useful for instructors and lecturers of CJ as well.
