Interactions between flooding and water-related diseases in Chad

Flooding and water-related diseases are major challenges for many urban areas in Africa, including Chad. The 7th arrondissement of the city of N'Djaména, the capital of Chad, faces these problems on a recurring basis, jeopardizing the health and well-being of its inhabitants. This study aims to explore the interactions between flooding and water-related diseases in this specific locality, examining how these phenomena influence each other and analyzing the responses and strategies adopted by the local population to cope with these challenges. At the heart of this study are the health implications and socio-economic consequences of flooding and water-borne diseases in N'Djaména's 7th arrondissement. Indeed, the occurrence of floods can lead to the contamination of drinking water, the emergence of diseases such as malaria and diarrhoea, and the deterioration of living conditions for residents. Understanding these complex dynamics is essential to developing effective strategies for preventing and managing these health risks.
