Intelligent Transport System in Metropolitan Cities

Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is a prominent application that aims to offer services like transport mobility, traffic information, safety, and mode of transport. It uses advanced communication and data processing technology to improve comfort, reduce stress and travel time for commuters as well as the mobility of goods. This work investigates the technologies deployed under ITS, such as traffic data collection, traffic signal systems, ticketing and travel information systems, route guidance systems, parking facility, and public transport services. These services differ from country to country. The variation is due to the economic status, infrastructure capability, and technology adaptability of the country. Traffic data collection techniques and route guidance systems are proposed considering ITS services in Bengaluru, India.
