Intelligence in Neurofibromatosis 1 patients

Helenice Bianchi Bolini, clinical psychologist and Eny Maria Goloni Bertollo, biologist and geneticist, working at the Neurofibromatosis Care and Research Center-CEPAN, observed that Intelligence has been one of the capacities extensively affected in Neurofibromatosis 1-NF1 carriers: the clinical symptoms, the intellectual performance and the psychosocial characteristics of its carrier. The objective of the scientific investigation was to identify and compare the Intelligence indices and their frequencies in NF1 carriers. Making it a book was an attempt to spread these findings, contributing to broaden the knowledge about the subject, the clinical and psychosocial characteristics of its carriers, not only with the scientific community, but also with the carriers themselves, their families, teachers and professionals with whom they may interact.
