Integration of Geography contents into the Social Sciences subject

The local curriculum is a comprehensive form of education, through a pedagogical process which is participatory and relevant, seeking to create in the student an awareness of the problems which are of general concern to the community around him as well as to other places. In this sense, the participation of the community is fundamental, as it can define what it would like its children to learn. In fact, the local curriculum is a way of learning aspects of a given community, with the participation of parents and guardians in the planning of school contents. This content brings together various local knowledge which makes the pupil skilful and competent. It is clear that creativity and intellectual abilities do not only serve the contents learned in school or in the classroom but also those transmitted by the community.
