Purple Blotch Complex (PBC) of onion caused by Alternaria porri (Ellis) Cif. and Stemphylium vesicarium (Wallr.) Simmons is of common occurrence in the onion growing areas of Punjab. The low productivity of onion in India is chiefly attributed to the prevalence of Purple leaf blotch and Stemphylium leaf blight in almost all the onion cultivated areas of Northern and Eastern regions. In view of the economic importance of the crop and effect of the disease complex on yield and quality, our investigation hinged with effective management of the disease complex of onion generated instrumental findings which would be useful in devising an integrated disease management approach.
