Influencing of Distributed Generation During Faults on Power System

With the ever increasing demand for power, the complexity and the cost of transmitting extra high power over larger distances increases. Distributed generation provides a relief for the transmission losses by generating power nearby the load. Without proper islanding techniques employing DG defeats all its purpose. Power system is prone to failures at distribution level due to many reasons distributed generation provides backup under such situation thereby increasing the overall reliability of the system. The location of the distributed resource also plays a major role in the reliability analysis, optimal location of the DG is found by using various load flow techniques. Distributed generation mainly uses renewable sources for energy production; the presence of such new generators creates new operating conditions for the interconnected system. This project focuses on the effect of distributed generation on the quality of the system voltages at any concerned location due to various faults occurring on the power system.
