Influence of superstition on sports performance

Sport, being an activity dominated by uncertainty, generates all kinds of emotions and sensations in athletes and sports teams that can have a negative influence on their performance. This is why, over the years, athletes and coaches have used a large number of methods to reduce the negative emotions produced by this condition and thus, be more prepared to face competitions in an optimal way and thus, obtain the expected results in the preparation; one of these methods has been superstition and religious rituals, used by various athletes to maintain a state of balance and self-confidence that allows them to compete at their highest peak performance, leaving the responsibility and destiny to a superior being.
