Induced Ovarian Maturation in Freshwater Edible Crab B. cunicularis

The ever increasing human population and its food requirements from only agricultural sector is not sufficient due to number of factors. Here aquaculture becomes a good substitute for this; proving rich proteins at lower prices which may also help in filling little gap of malnutrition. Aquaculture particularly the crustacean culture (Prawns, Lobsters & Crabs) is now a days becoming more familiar. However, reproduction plays a very important role for enhancement of aquaculture. Natural reproduction in its way has some limitations which restricts expansion of aquaculture on large commercial scale. For this external manipulations plays important role ; with help of some steroid hormones the target can be achieved. The present publication deals with the related aspects.
