Increasing Agricultural Food Production - Extension Policy Reforms

The objective of this book is to provide knowledge and information on areas of the policy reforms that requires emphasis and re-evaluation for other development initiatives in the field of extension. The policy reform was formulated to guide and harmonize the management and delivery of agricultural extension services globally in developing countries. The research outlined components of the policy that influence its effectiveness and efficiency in improving extension services for increased agricultural productivity, consequently food security and poverty alleviation among small-scale farmers. The research work explains the bottlenecks that hinder the achievements of participatory and Pluralistic Demand Driven Approaches that was advanced by the policy reforms. The reforms were implemented as a development initiative aimed at ensuring availability and accessibility of farmers to appropriate agricultural technologies and information. The final responsibility of the content of the research rests with the policy makers and implementing agencies both government mainstream, non-governmental organization and private sector charged with ensuring farmers access appropriate technologies.
