Incarceration: What Impact on Pulmonary Tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis, an old disease that was thought to be definitively defeated, remains one of the most widespread infectious diseases throughout the world, especially in developing countries. The prison environment represents a closed community with a young population living in crowded conditions and often in difficult living conditions. The prison population is characterized by several risk factors for TB such as smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction and HIV infection. Outside of prison, this population often suffers from social marginalization, which alters its socio-economic level and makes access to care difficult. In this respect, we have carried out this work, the objectives of which are as follows:-Evaluate the epidemiological, clinical, radiological, bacteriological and evolutionary characteristics of tuberculosis subjects from both incarcerated and non-incarcerated groups.-Analyzing the impact of the association between incarceration and tuberculosis on the severity of the latter.
