Improving the financing aspect of management in the NP Kopaonik

Protected areas are at the moment the best tool for biodiversity protection that human kind has on its disposal. In order to accomplish the role that is given to them protected areas need financial resources. Like in many other countries protected areas in Serbia are facing the problem of insufficient funding. As the surface of protected land continues to grow in accordance with governmental plans these financial needs will be higher and related protected areas financial gaps will be even more dominant. This book make a practical contribution for financial issue of National Park Kopaonik by providing an insight picture of the current financial situation and needs, presenting a variety of potential financial mechanism, and indicating the levels of usage validity of particular financial mechanism in the Serbian context. Six element of sustainable financing concept, used as empty boxes for pattern matching principle, fully present and describe financial strategy of National Park Kopaonik. The presented analysis will be of great assistance to nature protection practitioners, policy makers and others that find interest in protected areas related financing issues.
