Impacts of Micro Enterprises on Livelihoods

The Community Forestry Programme in Nepal has been seen as a very successful program, which has played an important role in increasing the income and employment opportunities of Forest User Group members through forest-based micro-enterprise development and management. Such activities not only improve the livelihoods of community forest user group members but also help in rural development. This study was carried out in Shreechhap Deurali Community Forest Users, Thulosirubari VDC of Sindhupalchok district and Chaubas-Bhumlu Community Sawmill, Chaubas VDC of Kavre Palanchok district. Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools and techniques such as participatory well-being ranking, questionnaire survey, key informant survey, focus group discussion and direct observation were used to collect field information.
