Impact of Treated and Untreated Tannery Effluent on Green Gram

Microorganisms play an important role in soil environment and are known to absorb; adsorb and accumulate heavy metals and they can be made useful in solving major problem associated with metals. The extensive use of chromium in different industries such as leather, textile, metal electroplating etc ha resulted into the discharge of chromium compounds into the aquatic system. However, many of the physical (Precipitation and ion exchange) and chemical (Chemical resins and coagulation) methods can be employed, they are expensive an also not ecofriendly. So these methods are replaced by biological systems. This book deals with the effect of microbially treated and untreated tannery effluent on the growth of green gram.
