Impact of Self Help Groups

The book explores the impact of Self Help Groups (SHGs) formed under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) on the empowerment of rural women in Amreli district, Gujarat. Recognizing women as a crucial infrastructure for social development, the study emphasizes the significance of investing in women's capabilities for economic growth and overall progress. SHGs significantly contribute to rural women's psychological, social, economic, cultural, health, and political empowerment. The IWMP project is essential for women's overall development, enabling them to transition from being housewives to active participants in entrepreneurship. The results highlight the importance of sustained funding for IWMP and the growth of SHG projects to achieve long-term empowerment in rural communities.
