Impact of emotional maturity on self-esteem of adolescents

The purpose of the present study was to study the emotional maturity among adolescents in the age group of 13 to 15 years and the various factors affecting it like self-esteem. The adolescents in this age group face many kinds of pressures at home and also outside. It is a globally accepted fact that during adolescence a child goes through a lot of changes physically, emotionally and socially. These changes have a great impact on them; they can either make or break an individual.There is a common saying ¿ ¿The squeaking wheel gets the grease.¿ Significant efforts must be made to find the solutions of these problematic behaviors of adolescents. As emotions do play central role in the life of an individual, one is expected to have higher emotional maturity in order to lead an effective life. It is also true that our behavior is constantly influenced by the emotional maturity level that we possess. Especially, the adolescents who are observed to be highly emotional in their dealings need to be studied. In view of this, an attempt is made in present study to find out the impact of emotional maturity of adolescents on their self-esteem.
