Impact of Early childhood traumatic experiences on adulthood

The purpose of this research was to investigate the impact of early childhood traumatic experiences on adulthood, with a special population of priests and nuns in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mutare. The purpose of the study was also to find out 5 to what extent early childhood traumatic experiences affect performance of priests and nuns. Another purpose was to raise awareness among priests and nuns who suffer from early childhood traumatic experiences that they can seek coping and survival skills from experts and be able to trust others enough as well as cherish their love and that of God. The other purpose of the study was also to help Church Leaders to avoid the arbitrary expulsion of those who exhibit Post¿Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) but rather reduce or eradicate them through holistic caring, continuous psychosocial support, systemic counselling and appropriate rehabilitative measures.
