Illegal appropriation of space in Africa

Starting with qualitative research, semi-structured interviews interacted from August 2 to October 30, 2021, with 62 individuals ranging in age from 34 to 70. These social actors were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The discourses produced are based on the theory of Garett J. Hardin (1968). Indeed, this theoretical approach describes the phenomenon of unsparing overexploitation of a common resource by a given social group, creating a risk of extermination of land resources in a given space. Thus, the results show that the relocation operation of the "Kassaraté" neighborhood by the Société Générale des Travaux de Développement is perceived by the social actors as a "good thing. This concept refers to three main representational logics: land security for both landowners and lot purchasers; development of the neighborhood; and improved living conditions (servicing, access to drinking water, electricity, etc.). The study also shows that several issues (economic, political, social, cultural, etc.) underlie this project.
