Hyperlink Analysis of Indian Universities

In scholarly communication , website plays a dominant role in higher education. The academic activities and scholarly performances of universities get reflected through their websites. Therefore, study of websites, richness of websites, web technologies, hyperlinks etc are some of the vital aspects to study. The book is based on my doctoral thesis, which covers the webometric study of 471 Indian universities using webometric tools and techniques. Webometric data were collected using commercial search engines and academic web crawlers. The book mainly deals with five important areas e.g. web presence of Indian universities & calculation of web impact factors; theoretical foundation of webometrics and different webometric tools & techniques; designing and developing a ranking system in order to rank Indian universities; link analysis and formation of link topology for Indian universities using SocSciBot and Pajek; and finally, classification and motivation of hyperlinks. The book may be of great help to the LIS professionals, researchers and teachers, who are working in the area of webometrics, hyperlink analysis, webometric ranking, classification and motivation of hyperlinks.
