Hydrogeological Assessment and Groundwater Vulnerability Map of Basara

The Basara which is one of the most promising hydrogeological basins in Iraqi Kurdistan Region, located in the northeast of Iraq, west of Sulaimani city. The water resources of this basin are under stresses originating from urbanization, industrial and agricultural activities. Recently, many environmental and civil organizations agencies declare that those activities threaten this valuable resource. This book is an attempt to assess the current hydrogeological situation and to make Groundwater Vulnerability Map to show zonation area of high and low groundwater susceptible to pollution using DRASTIC method with the assistance of Geographic Information System (GIS).
