How to fight poverty through Zakat

Zakat is the third pillar of Islam and consists of taking from the assets, silver, gold, merchandise 2.5 percent; livestock and agricultural income - 1/10 or 1/20 a share for the poor, in short there are eight categories of people who should benefit from zakat once a year. It is a religious duty for everyone who meets the eligibility criteria.There are eight categories of zakat recipients. An organization such as Beitul Zakat plays the role of collecting, administering and redistributing it to the entitled people from a local to a regional to a national and international sample. Banks, companies and other financial institutions must pay their zakat to the Beitul Zakat in the country where they operate or function.
