Holy Trinity Church in Tbilisi: History, Architecture and Paintings

The book is dedicated to the history of the Holy Trinity Church, built by Petre ¿Karauli¿ (Aghniashvili). He supposedly built the church in 1790, and the church has been renovated in the following century. This church is special for every Georgian because Ilia Chavchavadze and Olga Guramishvili, Ekvtime Takaishvili and Nino Poltoretskaya, etc., got married here.The book overviews the history, merits of one of the most prominent archpriests - Nikoloz Ardaziani. Unpublished historical documents have been studied, as well as church architecture and paintings ¿ wall paintings and iconostasis icons. The author of the book especially focuses on Italian painter Ludwig Longo, who painted the church at the turn of XIX-XX cc. However, the biography of the painter is unknown to this day, and this fact adds up to the importance of the book.
