Histological examination of Placentae

The present study was conducted to investigate the placental morphological, histological, and histopathological features of term, singleton pregnancies obtained by Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART). Placentae were obtained from singleton pregnancy who were delivered in Dohuk Private, Shelan Private, and Azadi Teaching Hospitals in Dohuk Governorate. The collection of placental specimens started from the 1st January to November 2007. The study included 44 pregnant women, 22 of whom conceived by in vitro fertilization (IVF), and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) (ART group), and all were singleton pregnancy that delivered at term. The other 22 women were the control group who conceived spontaneously.
