Himalayan Musk Deer in Manaslu Conservation Area, Nepal

The Himalayan musk deer (Moschus chrysogaster) is an endangered species under IUCN categories and mentioned in the appendix I of the CITES. This species occurs at least in 13 countries of south Asia, east Asia, southeast Asia and eastern Russia including Nepal. Musk deer is patchily distributed in the mountainous region of Nepal. It is greatly suffering from poaching for its musk pod.
