Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs) were an important component of hematology treatment especially for chemotherapy administration. CVAD was a broad term that includes many types of catheters (thin, flexible hollow tubes) that were inserted into and positioned within a vein in the body to deliver therapies to the blood stream. Common types of CVADs that were used in Hematology Unit were Implantable port (chemo port), Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC), and Hickman Catheter (Tunnel Catheter). CVAD can give many complications such as infection, and occlusion. Knowing how to prevent, spot, and managed the CVAD complications will help the patients¿ safe and serving a quality of care.
