Amelia "Milly" is new to Bantham on the south coast of Devon and decides to take a surfing course. This is where she first meets Jake, a kind trainee surfing instructor, and, as Milly later discovers, her friend's older brother. As their two lives become increasingly intertwined, she develops strong feelings for him. But she ends up with a broken heart.

When Milly finally starts to get over her first love, she understands that she didn't fall for Jake because they were meant to be together. She realises that there were a few lessons she needed to learn for life - and heartbreak was the only way to teach her.

This book is dedicated to the thousands of people whose hearts are broken every day. Through Milly's story, I wish to teach them what nobody else takes the time to address and hope to protect them from avoidable heartbreak in the future.
