Health education on cardiovascular risk

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in Brazil and worldwide. Therefore, population awareness of the primary prevention of this disease is fundamental to change this scenario. A total of 16 medical students from the ABC Medical School (FMABC) participated in 3 educational activities, namely the Student Heart Project, the World Physical Activity Day and the National Hypertension Day, all of them held in the ABCDM region. At the end of these activities, an evaluation questionnaire was applied to the students. It was possible to perceive an empowerment of the students before the themes addressed. There was a benefit in the interdisciplinary character of the actions, positioning health students as multipliers, by transmitting information on health promotion, prevention and control of modifiable risk factors of CVD, to the lay population of different age groups.
